FAQ

🔒 Iron Lock — FAQ

Q: What is the Iron Lock?
A: Iron Lock is a heavy-duty, steel handgun security lock that mounts to a wall. It features a biometric fingerprint reader for fast, authorised entry and an internal UPS so it remains functional during power interruptions. Each Iron Lock is precision-made for specific handgun models or series to ensure a secure, reliable fit.

General

Q: What should I do first when I receive my Iron Lock?
A: Enroll fingerprints first. The unit ships ready-to-use, but until you enroll authorised fingerprints it may respond to multiple fingerprints. Immediately enrolling up to 10 authorised fingerprints prevents unintended access and ensures only trusted users can open the unit.

Q: Which handguns does Iron Lock fit?
A: Each Iron Lock is manufactured for a specific handgun model or series. Check the compatibility listing on the product page before purchasing.

Q: How many fingerprints can be stored?
A: Iron Lock can store up to 10 fingerprints.

Q: Is Iron Lock a certified safe?
A: No. Iron Lock is a quick-access lock, not a certified gun safe. Always follow South African firearm storage and safety laws.

Power & Security

Q: What happens if the power goes out?
A: Iron Lock includes a built-in UPS backup battery so it will continue to operate during load-shedding or other power failures.

Q: How secure is the fingerprint reader?
A: The biometric system is designed for reliable, accurate recognition and only grants access to stored fingerprints once you’ve enrolled them.

Q: How do I remove a fingerprint once it’s loaded?
A: Hold the setup button for five seconds until you hear the activation sound and beeping. This resets the board to factory default, allowing all fingerprints to access the lock. To secure it again, add your fingerprint so that only it is authorized for access.

Installation

Q: Can I install Iron Lock myself?
A: Yes. Most customers install Iron Lock themselves with basic tools and care.

Tools & requirements:

  • Drill with correct bits.
  • Hole for Rawl bolt (expansion anchor): 12 mm.
  • Bolt hole inside the Rawl bolt shell: 6 mm.
  • Spanner size: 10.
  • Leveller: recommended when marking positions to ensure straight alignment.

Q: Are bolts included?
A: Yes — all required Rawl bolts (expansion anchors) are supplied with the unit.

🚗 Rapid Lock — FAQ

Q: What is the Rapid Lock?
A: Rapid Lock is a compact, quick-fit handgun holder designed for vehicle use. Rapid Lock is fully mechanical — no batteries, no charging, no biometrics — and each unit is made for specific handgun models or series to ensure a correct fit.

A: Each Rapid Lock is manufactured for a specific handgun model or series. Confirm compatibility on the product page before purchase.
